The nights are drawing in and as such we have now moved back to Westhought Pool for the winter. The address is Westhoughton Leisure Centre, Bolton Rd, Westhoughton, Bolton, BL5 3BZ.
Please follow the usual booking system for these sessions (email:
bookings@boltoncanoeclub.org.uk). Booking is on a first come first saved
basis for each group and with this in mind, should you need to cancel
your place please notify us in advance of the session using the bookings
email address. This will allow us to open up spaces to anyone on a
reserve list.
The available sessions are:
- 8:30-9:00pm (max 12)
- 9:00-9:30pm (max 12)
A couple of points to note for the pool sessions:
- card payment is taken between 8pm and 8.15pm for the first session, and 8.30-8.45pm for the second session. Each 30min session is £7.50.
- Registration and payment will close promptly to allow movement to the pool.
- we meet in the reception area of the pool to sign in prior to payment
- please wear suitable swimshorts / shorts / T-shirt in the water
- you may want to bring goggles / dive mask / nose clip / ear plugs (all personal preference)
- each session will start with a 50m swim as a warm up and safety check as the membership form indicates
- boats, paddles and decks are all stored for member use at the pool, however storage is limited and so you may have to use different boats to previously
- if you have your own boat try and take it along (make sure it is clean), you will learn more in your own boat
- All instructions from the lead coach or the leisure centre staff should be followed
- do not take any boats from the rack or get on to the water until agreed by the lead coach or an instructor
- no free swimming is allowed, unless it is part of the warm-up / safety swim or part of a training drill
- anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult who must remain at the pool throughout the session (there is a viewing gallery upstairs)
As the times are tight, prompt start and end times will be adhered to.
