A total of 15 people + 2 dogs enjoyed some amazing weather, excellent paddling and refreshing swims on and in Lake Windermere over the weekend.
We had 10 campers setting up their tents at Low Wray Campsite Friday afternoon / evening which, although a lovely campsite with great facilities, was not conducive to group camping as we were spread out over the campsite due to their ‘pitch specific’ policy. Not ideal.
It was great to see the Glossop crew back on the water and a pleasure to welcome Mark C as a guest for the day on Saturday. Cracking paddle in glorious sunshine over to Ambleside for chocolate dipped ice cream then back to wallow in the shallows before an entertaining alfresco meal out at the Outgate Inn.
Needless to say we all managed to converge on the Brabner encampment, conveniently located on the water’s edge, on both evenings for necessary refreshments, a bit of banter and a fire pit with the mandatory toasted marshmallows.
The more athletic of us managed a further paddle Sunday morning after breaking camp. Terrific weather again and what a great weekend. Where else would you rather be?
