A small group of members had an enjoyable trip on Coniston Water.
The weekend started with 6 camping on the Friday night at our usual campsite. We were introduced to an even fancier evening than normal with beer on tap provided by Mike!
On Saturday morning our group grew to 11. We set off to Bluebird cafe with 8 kayaks and 2 paddleboards. The weather was kind on the way there but the wind did pick up slightly on the way back. The paddleboarders did a great job at perservering back to the campsite!
In the afternoon a smaller group of 7 kayaks and a canoe set off to Peel Island. We were going against the wind again, but all managed it really well. There was time for exploring and jumping on Peel Island.
We thought we might have a quicker trip back with the wind behind us, but on leaving Peel Island we found it had dropped. Instead we got lovely calm water and sunshine.
As the weather was nice the whole group decided to walk to our usual local establishment, but found that they were unable to serve us, which meant a quick dash back to order fish and chips in Coniston!
It was decided that Sunday morning we would have a play in the bay on Paddleboards and also gave our canine members a chance to get used to the craft also. The wind did start to pick up again, but that gave us chance to try a paddleboard raft with a sail!
The remaining members went home happy and tired after a weekend of fun and paddling, and even better the tents were packed away dry!
Looking forward to the next one.
