Here at Bolton Canoe Club we run a fairly informal beginners club. We mainly base our paddling around flat and white water kayaking and canoeing. We are affiliated to British canoeing as a ‘Adult Club with Youth Section’.
Bolton Canoe Club is a friendly club with members of various levels of experience and ability. Club sessions are focused on introducing beginners to kayaking ad canoeing through weekly training sessions, outdoors in summer and in a swimming pool in winter. We run other trips throughout the year on lakes or rivers; some of these trips will be on more advanced water to allow you to progress your skills.
We also organise occasional weekends away. We meet weekly on Monday evenings: in summer at High Rid reservoir in Horwich and during winter in the swimming pool at Westhoughton Leisure Centre. All the information you need is below, but please get in touch to let us know you’re coming.
Prospective members are welcome to attend three sessions without joining the club. After attending three club sessions as a non-member, you will be asked to join and to complete a membership form before participating in further events. Please see the Join Us pages.
Club officials and coaches have undertaken appropriate safeguarding training and have been subject to DBS checks in line with British Canoeing guidance. At High Rid and at the pool, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult who must remain on site throughout the event.
We run taster sessions for everyone of any ability on the second Monday of the month. If you want to join us then please email us so we can book on on a taster session.
